Figure 7 Immunostaining of single stranded DNA (ssDNA) and cleaved caspase 3 for apoptosis in the gastric mucosa. a) eAR polymer method of ssDNA in the mostly normal gastric mucosa ( 20 magnification). Anti ssDNA antibody labeled most of the nuclei of the glandular cells. b) hAR polymer method of cleaved caspase 3 in the mostly normal gastric mucosa ( 20 magnification). Foveolar cells under the surface were positive for cleaved caspase 3. c) hAR supersensitive method of cleaved caspase 3 in the mostly normal gastric mucosa ( 20 magnification). Labeled cells other than those labeled by hAR polymer method (b) were thought to degrade the prepared caspase 3. d) hAR polymer method of cleaved caspase 3 in inflamed mucosa ( 20 magnification). Relatively many cleaved caspase 3 positive foveolar cells under the eroded surface. Some cleaved caspase 3 positive cells were also seen in the neck portion. e) hAR polymer method of cleaved caspase 3 in the neck portion of the inflamed mucosa ( 20 magnification). Some cleaved caspase 3 positive cells in the neck portion where many proliferation cells were located. f) hAR polymer method of cleaved caspase 3 in intestinal metaplasia ( 20 magnification). Surface cells of the metaplastic glands were positive for cleaved caspase 3..
